There are several options:
1) You can prove that you (the student) have funds available to support yourself. Your own name must be on the bank statement.
2) A sponsor can prove that they have funds available to support you. They must complete the
DBU Sponsor Agreement. They must sign it. You will upload it in your I-20 Request.
3) You can do a combination of both 1 and 2. The sponsor will still need to complete the DBU Sponsor Agreement for their portion.
What Types of Documents Does DBU Accept?
- Official Bank Statement from a Savings or Checking account. (This may NOT be a screen shot or ATM receipt.)
- A letter from the bank on official letterhead stating that the required amount is available. (Must be dated and signed by bank official. Must include account holder's name.)
- Certificates of Deposit (CD), Stocks, Bonds, or Retirement funds that may be liquidated (submit bank statement or bank letter).
- Education Loan (provide award letter/verification that funds are approved)
- Scholarships (must submit award letter from Financial Aid)
Any statement or letter from a bank may not be older than 1 year, and it must contain the following:
- Name of account holder. If someone is sponsoring you, this must match the name on the Sponsor Agreement.
- Date that the statement was printed.
- Available account balance.
- Denomination or currency type of funds in the account.
DBU will NOT accept computer screen shots or ATM receipts.
